The DVB took the PC specification, that was called PCMCIA (now PC-CARD)
and adapted it to allow the DVB transport stream to be routed into the
interface and out again.
> A
Conditional Access Module (CAM) is then supplied in conjunction with various
broadcasters. This module has the capability to decode encrypted programming
material. When a broadcaster subscription card is purchased and plugged
into the module the programming material can be decoded.
