Deployment of HD via DVB-S2 is moving at pace

What is DVB-S2?
> A new technology transponder allows 30% more bandwidth than traditional DVB-S transponders, at similar power levels. This means it is much better suited to High Definition (HD) transmission.
  > Already two transponders on Astra satellite.

What new technology is needed at the STB?
> DVB-S2 utilises new modulation (16/32APSK and 8PSK), and error correction (BCH and LDPC), there is also encapsulation, ie the ability to combine different data streams into one carrier (with different modulation and error correction per data stream). Hence a new front end (FE) is needed on the STB.
> H.264 (part 10 of the MHEG-4 spec.) is used for the HD transmissions. Hence a back end decoder capable of this decoding is required.

What is Highgate doing in this area?
> We have contracts right now we are completing for our customers. We are therefore well placed with the technology in house to make any solution for DVB-S2.
